Frequently Asked Questions What are the objectives of Perspectivity?
Perspectivity is a private non-profit initiative (organised and
supported by a foundation), aimed at developing and applying methods
for the peaceful solution of complex social problems.
How does Perspectivity pursue its
objectives?
At Perspectivity we follow a two-pronged approach to realise our
objective:
- Building and making available a ‘toolbox’ (methods,
techniques, workshops, etc) for groups stuck in complex social problems
to help enlarge their common ground and work towards cooperative
solutions.
- Spreading our ideas in many different ways, including
the Perspectivity Network, the Perspectivity Game and this
website.
Dialogue, Scenario Planning, Future Search and the
Perspectivity Game form the core concepts of Perspectivity. For further
explanation please refer to the page on Core Concepts.
Does Perspectivity have political or
religious connections or intensions?
No, at Perspectivity we believe in the power of diversity and aim at to
achieve creative solutions across borders of gender, race, religion,
political orientation and nationality. It is our objective to have the
Perspectivity Network increasingly reflect this diversity.
What is the origin of the name
Perspectivity?
The name 'Perspectivity' stands for the art of suspending our
prejudgments in problematic situations and first seeking the
perspectives of all those involved. The last part of the word derives
from 'activity', indicating that we are not only reflective but also
action oriented.
Can you give me an explanation of the
Perspectivity logo?
The V in the logo is a person who stands on his hands and hence sees
the world from a different perspective. Perhaps we should all
(proverbially) make a handstand every now and then and approach
problems from a different angle.
How is Perspectivity funded?
The starting capital of the foundation has been furnished by the
founder. Income is now also generated by Perspectivity Game sessions.
Communities that have been supported by the project and any other
organizations or individuals that support Perspectivity's work are free
to make donations to the foundation (for details check our contact
page).
What is the Perspectivity Network?
The Perspectivity Network comprises all those who are inspired by the
ideas of dialogue and scenario thinking and want to help convey these
ideas to a broader audience. THe active members of the
Network are a group of people from all walks of life who
participate in Perspectivity workshops and events, contribute to our
implementation projects and/or facilitate the Perspectivity Game. The
Network is supported by the Perspectivity Foundation. More information
can be found on the Network part of this site.
Can I join the Perspectivity Network?
Yes, you can. We want to spread the Perspectivity ideas by gradually
growing our Network of professionals. In order to join, you have to be
willing to regularly join our workshops and events, take part in our
implementation projects and/or facilitate sessions of the Perspectivity
Game. If you are interested please let us know (check the contact
page).
How else can I contribute to Perspectivity?
First of all, by sharing your ideas with us via this website. You can
also support us financially. Check the contact page for details.
